Last Update: 06/17/08 KEEPING UP WITH 10/TENTHS Since becoming the east coast distributor for Stohr Cars, 10/TENTHS has been very busy building cars and racing them. You can always stay up to date on our racing by visiting our sister website www.stohrcars.com. There are write-ups and photos which are updated weekly. BILL WALD WINS AT DAYTONA AND CLINCHES SCCA CENTRAL FLORIDA REGION 2007 FC CHAMPIONSHIP! Congratulations to our friend & customer Bill Wald for a great performance at Daytona on Sept. 29-30! Bill finished P1 in the Saturday race in damp conditions, went on to finish P2 in both Sunday races, and set and rest his personal fastest lap on the "big track" since starting to race 4 years ago. Bill's solid finishes all year long, including this event, sealed the 2007 Central Florida Region championship in Formula Continental. In 2006, Bill was leading the championship heading into the final, deciding weekend. But, he was hit by another car, causing a DNF, resulting in him losing the championship by two points! But not this season! It was great to garage near Dr. Stanley Hallock & son, Allan Oppel, Ken Waters, Skip Weld, Jim Johnson, & Jim McQuaig, all the "regular" southeast formula car competitors. Our "Hard Charger" vote goes to Stan "EYE RACE" Hallock for wringing out his Van Diemen to get on the podium all weekend and setting his personal best lap. Way to wrap up a great season Bill Wald! We are proud! 2007 END OF SEASON SALE! Click here to have a look at our inventory reduction sale! Alpinestars apparel, MOMO wheels, racing parts, and more! RESULTS FROM THE SEBRING LABOR DAY REGIONAL 10/TENTHS Motorsport campaigned Bill Wald in his Van Diemen FC and Garry Crook in his Stohr WF1. On Saturday both drivers captured the poles in their class with Garry taking P1 overall and Bill P8. On Sunday during very hot conditions, both drivers finished P1 in class in both races. Garry was P1 overall and Bill P8 overall in both races. There were 10 FC’s and a 26 car total field. Congratulations to both Bill and Garry. In addition to great set ups from Bill Vogeley, professional driver and 10/TENTHS friend Doug Smith provided valuable knowledge to Bill and Garry and the results really showed. Glennon Reidler also was in the paddock and a big help throughout the weekend. Bill’s weekend followed up a strong August showing on the Sebring long course setting personal best lap times consistently in the 2:17’s. Brice Capone and Bill raced nose to tail trading positions several times during that weekend with Bill finishing P4 in both races in another large FC turnout. 10/TENTHS is planning to return to Sebring for the CFR/2008 SARRC kickoff weekend October 27th and 28th. Good show to all the racers and thanks for your support. 10/TENTHS Motorsport has been focusing on our building of Stohr racing cars this year. Therefore, look to our Stohr Cars North America website for additional updates of our 2007 season. RESULTS FROM THE SEBRING REGIONAL Congratulations to Bill Wald for his P2 qualfication and P3 finish in Formula Continental during the 30-minute SARRC race on the Sebring "club" course. Bill had a personal best lap during the weekend, always improving. Gearbox component failure prevented another solid finish in the short, regional race. 10/TENTHS tested the Stohr F1000 on the event test day with Tom Shelton, Sr. as the driver. Tom felt our changes improved the car over its initial test. 10/TENTHS plans to campaign the car at the Road Atlanta National March 23-25. 10/TENTHS NOW A SPA TECHNIQUE DEALER! 10/TENTHS recently completed its agreement with SPA Technique and is currently its most centrally located dealer in the southeast! Next closest dealers are Texas, Virginia, and south Florida. SPA Technique offers the latest in fire systems, steering wheel quick releases, gauges, measuring instruments, racing mirrors, and damper dynomometers. Starting in April, 10/TENTHS will be an authorized fire system service center to have your fire bottles, inspected, refilled, and system components serviced. We will shortly have many of our stocking SPA Technique products on our e-store! STOHR F1000 TEST RESULTS Please visit the Stohr Cars North America website to read the initial test results of the F1000's first outing at Roebling Road Raceway January 26th. RESULTS FROM THE FLORIDA WINTER NATIONALS 10/TENTHS drove south to warm up in Florida and to compete in the SCCA "winter nationals" at Sebring International Raceway and Homestead Motorsports Complex. We supported Glennon Reidler and his Van Diemen Zetec in FC trim. We also brought the new Stohr F1000 with us to have on display prior to its shakedown later this month. Sebring weather was great but our luck was not so great. We were hit on the test day coming out of pit lane by a Formula Vee which removed the left front corner. After making repairs a Formula Mazda lost its exhaust during Saturday's qualifying which collided with Glennon's brand new Pennon nose & front wing, destroying the wing and flap. At the grid, the starter gave up after working only 20 minutes prior. We restarted the car but not by the 1 minute signal so Glennon had to start from pit lane. Homestead, thankfully, was a relatively trouble-free weekend. It was also nice to race against the FC guys from the northeast - Mark Defer, Lewis Cooper, Chris Fahan. It was also nice to see George Levien and Jim Morgan driving again. Cole Morgan showed everyone how it's done in a 16 year old Swift FC. The Van Diemens ran in many "low drag" configurations -- no rear upper wing elements, front flaps bolted to the nose, and the like. It came down to where you wanted to have the gain - on the speedway or in the infield. Lap times were similar. Glennon finished P5 in FC after everyone ran one additional lap due to a timing & scoring snafu. We garaged next to Frankie Muniz, also known as Malcolm in the Middle from the popular TV show. He was racing a Swift 014 Formula Atlantic in preparation to campaign in the ChampCar Atlantic Series. Click here for pics from the event. STOHR CARS NORTH AMERICA DEBUTS THE F1000 at PRI The new Stohr F1000 will be formally introduced to the public at the Performance Racing Industry trade show December 14-16. The show takes place at the Orlando Convention Center. The show expects over 40,000 attendees and over 1300 exhibitors. We will display the race ready car in booths 2252 & 2254. Please stop by and shake hands! We are also planning to have the car at the SCCA Winter Nationals. 10/TENTHS TEAMS UP WITH LEE STOHR CARS TO FORM STOHR CARS NORTH AMERICA Bill and I are very pleased to announce our new alliance with Stohr Cars. With the formation of Stohr Cars North America, we are the exclusive distributor of Lee Stohr's & Wayne Felch's creations -- the legendary motorcycle-powered Runoffs winner WF1 D Sports Racer and their new machine, the F1000 formula car for the 2007 SCCA class of the same name. We will also maintain a substantial parts inventory and provide service for all Stohr cars. For the latest information from Stohr Cars North America, visit www.stohrcars.com SEBRING REGIONAL RESULTS - NOV 10/TENTHS supported our great customer Bill Wald in his Van Diemen Zetec, newly converted to FC trim. He wanted to get an early start on 2007 Central Florida Region SCCA points and return to his favorite track - the Sebring 12-Hour course. Bill never set a wheel wrong all weekend and brought home two P3 finishes in races which had full course cautions. The car was trouble-free and the weather was surprisingly pleasant. Our Dad, Bill Vogeley, Sr. drove up from Fort Lauderdale and it was great to see him. We also saw Rick Bernard and Gary Smith, two racer friends who are between cars at the moment. SHELTON RACING GROUP CARS FOR SALE The Shelton Racing Group is offering its stable of five first generation Stohr D Sports Racers for sale. These cars have been prep shop maintained. SRG claimed several victories and two new track records with these cars during the 2006 season. All cars broke existing DSR lap records at Road Atlanta and VIR. Click here for details and photos or you can also find a link from our Cars For Sale page. SEBRING REGIONAL RESULTS - OCT With just over a day turnaround from Topeka, we headed south to Sebring, Florida to thaw out from the Runoffs while supporting Bill Wald in Formula Atlantic. Heading into this event, Bill lead the Central Florida Region championship and needed to finish fourth or better win the season. After a solid day of testing to get back in the up to speed since Daytona in August, Bill was involved in a fast Turn 1 incident where a car spun and came to rest after the apex. Bill and Brice Capone went into Turn 1 side by side. With nowhere to go, Bill contacted the still DSR and removed the right front suspension and damaged the right rear suspension. Fortunately, all drivers were unharmed. Unfortunately, we could not gather all the parts to get the car prepared for the afternoon regional race. A big thanks to Don Boughan for offering parts and to Ken Waters for offering his car to Bill. Bill and the car will be ready for the "Turkey Trot" back at Sebring over Thanksgiving weekend. Bill finished P2 in the championship and is ready to get an early lead in 2007. Thank you Bill! BACK FROM HOLY TOPEKA! The SCCA Runoffs was quite an experience. Firstly, hats off to the entire Shelton Racing Group drivers, and crew for an absolutely incredible year! A quick recap of the 2006 season as compiled by Steve Shelton, Jr. -- We ran 7 races with 5 cars. That is 35 races total. We won 5 of the 7. Set three track records.....by a total of 13 seconds. We had 5 poles and finished with 18 podiums out of 21 possible podium spots. Truly an awesome season and we were fortunate to be part of such a great program! THANK YOU! At the Runoffs, everyone was battling the lack of grip, amount of traffic, and hour-by-hour weather changes. Nonetheless, Steve Shelton Sr. was able to qualify fifth, in spite of the terrible traffic. Tom Sr. was also in the top 10 and the sons were close behind. Steve had a bad start by missing a gear, dropping him back about 5 positions. He clawed back to 4th place, really using his tires in the process and, unfortunately, ran out of tires before running out of laps. He ended up finishing just off the coveted podium at P4. Tom Sr. had the 7th fastest lap of the race and was moving through the pack nicely until a freak incident during the race's only full-course caution, resulting in contact with another car and high siding the car on the tall curbing. The sons Steve, Tom, and Wes plugged away and were a 3-car train for most of the race. Steve, Wes, and Tom finished a solid P13,14,15 respectively out of 32 starters, especially with Tom and Wes in their first year of racing and first Runoffs. Way to go SRG! Also, a shout out to college freshman Cole Morgan for qualifying P2 and finishing P2 in Formula Continental in a 15 year old Swift. Remember his name -- you heard it here first. UPCOMING 10/TENTHS EVENTS: F1000 TESTING - Jan 26 - Savannah SCCA NATIONAL - Feb 10-11 - CMP SCCA REGIONAL - Feb 24-25 - Sebring Winter Testing - Call for dates OFF TO THE RUNOFFS! 10/TENTHS and the Shelton Racing Group are leaving on October 07 for Heartland Park Topeka, the new home of the SCCA Runoffs. The Sheltons are a favored team to win the national championship in the D Sports Racer category. We have been testing and our preparation is almost complete. Coverage of the SCCA Runoffs will be televised tape delayed on SPEED Channel. We have been very happy supporting the Shelton family during their 2006 season and the culmination of the entire team's hard work is all five drivers will be competing at the Runoffs. Good luck to all competitors! ROB POMA WINS THE SARRC CHAMPIONSHIP! A hearty congratulations to Rob Poma for capturing the pole, the win, and setting a new track record at the SARRC Invitational Championship in Savannah, GA. Rob was supported by 10/TENTHS at the SIC. Driving his trusty Van Diemen RF97, he set a new Formula Continental track record of 1:07.1 on the final lap of the 15-lap race! A great way to finish off the 2006 SCCA Southeast Division season Rob! Thanks for believing in us! SHELTON RACING GROUP DOMINATES AT VIR! The Shelton family had two goals this weekend -- win the race and ensure Wes had enough points for the Runoffs. Both were accomplished in large fashion, taking five of the top six finishing positions. SRG also took delivery of two new Stohr WF1s at the track Thursday evening. Needless to say, everyone was busy prepping the cars for the Friday test day. Wes Shelton, who encountered mechanical difficulties and an incident earlier in the season, was in a points battle for the last invitation to the Runoffs for D Sports Racer. Wes had a largely trouble-free weekend and finished fourth -- WITH THE POINTS NEEDED SO ALL 5 SHELTONS ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THE RUNOFFS! Steve Sr. and Tom Sr. got accustomed to the WF1s on the test day. We found a shock and brake bias issue with Tom's car which was resolved after qualifying. Steve, sitting on pole and fourth overall, shot out to a comfortable lead. Tom blasted through traffic and was closing on Steve within 6 laps. Backmarker traffic helped Steve maintain a slight margin over approaching Tom, winning the 14-lap race with Tom just four seconds back. All SRG drivers broke the existing lap record - with Steve shattering the record by over SIX SECONDS (1:51.596), with brother Tom just 0.2 behind. Results: P1-Steve Sr., P2-Tom Sr., P4-Wes, P5-Steve Jr., P6-Tom Jr. Congratulations to everyone on the Team! We are looking forward to the SCCA National Runoffs! IMAGES from VIR VIDEO from VIR RACE RESULTS FROM THE DOUBLE SARRC AT DAYTONA 10/TENTHS had a solid weekend at the SCCA event at Daytona over August 05-06. Bill Wald was campaigning our FF2000 Zetec in FA, Glennon "GR" Reidler was also campaigning in FA with his new FF2000 Zetec, and Ed Dickinson returned to our camp to have another go in FC. There were full course cautions in each 30-minute race. Results: Race 1: ED-P2, GR-P2, BW-P4; Race 2: ED-P1, BW-P5, GR-P6. In spite of the blistering temps, we had a great time and ALWAYS enjoy racing with these drivers. Way to go guys! SHELTON RACING GROUP CONTINUES ITS WINNING STREAK AT SAVANNAH The Sheltons enjoyed another good weekend at the double national at Roebling Road Raceway over the "toasty" July 04 weekend. Track temps were over 140F! Tom Shelton grabbed pole for Race One, but conceded the win to his brother Steve with some bad breaks in traffic. Both Steve and Tom held off new Stohr WF1 of Dorian Foyil for all 23 laps. In Race Two, Dorian resolved his tire issues, and managed to stay in front of second place Tom and third place Steve. Finishing out the top 5 were Wes Shelton, Craig Stafford, and Tom Shelton, Jr. Their next outing is the VIR national in August. Way to go SRG!
